Cyanine 5 is an intensely bright far-red fluorescent dye that is structurally identical to Cy5. Known for its exceptionally high extinction coefficient and strong signal generation, it remains one of the most fundamental and widely used fluorophores in life sciences.
Because it emits in the far-red spectrum, Cyanine 5 helps researchers completely avoid the natural background autofluorescence of cells and tissues. It is perfect for a variety of imaging applications, including confocal microscopy, flow cytometry (FACS), DNA microarrays, and highly multiplexed labeling panels.
The NHS Ester is an amine-reactive dye: It can label amine groups in proteins, peptides, amino-modified oligos, and other target molecules.
Package size
Key Parameters: Great brightness and pH stability with lower costs
NHS Ester: Label amine groups in proteins, peptides or amino-modified oligos
Applications: Confocal Microscopy, Super Resolution Microscopy, Flow Cytometry (FACS), DNA/RNA microarrays, whole-animal imaging, cell cultures and tissue labeling.
Cost-effective protocol compatibility: Offers the exact same spectral properties and performance as standard Cy5 at a more accessible price. It serves as a direct, highly economical substitute for Alexa Fluor® 647 when extreme photostability is not strictly required.
Complete Compatibility – Can be used in any existing protocol that uses Cy5
