Job Description

What will be your responsibilities?

Expressing and purifying proteins for our products following standard operating procedures, but also development and optimization of such procedures, as well as experimental preparation of new forms of engineered proteins for our research and development

Expression of recombinant proteins in E. coli systems, from strain cultivation and induction through cell harvest and lysis to final purified product.

Implementation of various purification strategies (affinity chromatography, SEC, IEX, and others) tailored to individual protein targets.

Characterization of purified proteins using SDS-PAGE and other standard methods.

Operation of key laboratory equipment: shakers, autoclave, centrifuge, French press, and especially FPLC (AKTApure) for chromatographic purification.

Independent planning and execution of protein expression and purification workflows with a high degree of ownership, with the support and supervision from the head of protein facility.

Record keeping of all experiments and runs.

Collaboration with other teams across the company to deliver proteins for ongoing research and development projects.

What are the requirements?

Finished or nearly finished PhD degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience in an industrial laboratory.

Several years of practical experience with recombinant protein expression in E. coli and downstream purification workflows.

Hands-on proficiency with standard protein facility equipment: shakers, centrifuge, French press, and autoclave.

Experience with FPLC systems (AKTApure is of advantage) and chromatographic purification techniques.

Ability to work according to standard operating procedures but also ability to develop new expression and purification workflows.

High attention to detail and a disciplined approach to documentation and record keeping.

Experience with large-scale expression using bioreactors and/or large-scale purification are of advantage, but not a must

Positive attitude and problem-solving practical mindset.
