Martin Dienstbier, CFO and co-founder of DIANA Biotechnologies: "Our company is engaged in highly innovative research and development in the field of drug development and clinical diagnostics. The involvement of top scientists and developers with experience that often cannot be obtained only in the Czech Republic is crucial for our business. We are therefore very pleased to have started a cooperation with Czexpats in Science, a community of Czech scientists who work or have worked abroad but want to stay in touch with their home environment. Our sponsorship is primarily intended to support the activities of the association, which we consider generally beneficial for the development of Czech science and innovation. At the same time, we want to share our experience with the members of the association and show them that cutting-edge biotechnological and pharmaceutical research is already at home in the Czech Republic and that it is possible to develop it in a corporate environment here as well."
Vlaďka Petráková, co-founder of Czexpats in Science: "There has been a long-standing trend that scientists after completing their PhDs do not only pursue academic careers, but instead use their acquired skills in the private sector. Until recently, there were hardly any jobs in the Czech Republic that were attractive to ambitious people with scientific backgrounds from elite foreign institutions. Fortunately, this is changing, and in recent years, startups are emerging in the Czech Republic that need highly qualified people with a scientific background and are able to offer them attractive conditions. DIANA Biotechnologies is an example of such a company and that is why we are delighted that it is becoming a general partner of Czexpats in Science."
DIANA Biotechnologies offers employment to scientists returning from abroad
Foreign experience is increasingly common for Czech scientists, across all scientific disciplines. Many scientists decide to stay in their new location, but a large number consider returning. This is confirmed by a survey carried out by Czexpats in Science in 2021, where more than a third of the nearly 200 scientists surveyed who had lived abroad for a long time said they were considering returning to the Czech Republic. They value proximity to family and friends and quality of life. However, the problem for them is often to find an attractive job at home, where they will be able to apply their experience effectively, develop further and continue to work on projects with a global impact. DIANA Biotechnologies wants to offer just such jobs. "A large part of our team has foreign experience and top scientists are active in the global job market. The right offer is interesting not only financially, but especially for the quality of the work and the opportunity to participate in exceptional projects. Then people will really consider coming back," says Václav Navrátil, CEO and Scientific Director of the company. The company also manages to attract employees with experience from really top scientific institutions, such as the University of Oxford, Karolinska Institute, TU Dresden, University of Toronto, Johns Hopkins University or Georgia Institute of Technology.
Czexpats in Science supports Czech scientists abroad and strengthens their contact with the Czech Republic
Czexpats in Science is a unique organization that nurtures a community of Czech scientists with long-term experience abroad. With the motto "world science with Czech roots", it promotes the achievements of these scientists, helps them to stay in touch with the Czech Republic and positively influence the Czech scientific environment. It tries to facilitate the orientation of "uprooted" scientists in the Czech academic system and in the private sphere and their eventual return to their homeland. The aim is to assist scientific expats and to use their valuable knowledge and experience for the benefit of the Czech Republic, including improving the quality of Czech science and improving the Czech Republic's competitiveness in the global field of academic research and industrial innovation. Thanks to the partnership with DIANA Biotechnologies, Czexpats in Science will receive funds essential for further activities and strategic development of the organization, which will be able to better serve the community of Czech science expats and better utilize their potential for the Czech Republic.
